Hanif Kureishi: Shattered

£10.00

A journey from literary irreverence to extraordinary stoicism

With his play and film My Beautiful Laundrette and his first novel The Buddha of Suburbia Hanif Kureishi established himself as a distinctive voice in British-Immigrant culture.  His subsequent work has explored themes of intimacy and sexuality with candour and tenderness.  Three years ago Hanif was struck by a terrible accident which left him physically paralysed.  In his recent memoir Shattered he recounts his experience and its effects on his life and work.

Hanif will be in conversation with the Guardian's Chief Theatre Critic Arifa Akbar.

Arifa will be signing copies of her new book Wolf Moon at the festival book shop after the event.
