Lyse Doucet: The Finest Hotel in Kabul

£10.00

A People's History of Afghanistan

The Inter-Continental Hotel in Kabul has been standing for fifty years.  It has endured Soviet occupation, multiple coups, a grievous civil war, a US invasion, and the rise, fall and rise again of the Taliban.  Lyse Doucet, the BBC's Chief International Correspondent, has been checking into the Inter-Continental since 1988.  In her new book she uses it to craft a richly immersive history of modern Afghanistan.

Lise will be in conversation with journalist and broadcaster Rebecca Jones.

'I've been waiting for Lyse Doucet's book for a long time, and what she has produced is a testament to her humanity as well as to her journalistic eye.' - Mishal Husain
