Duncan MacDowall

Duncan MacDowall

Duncan MacDowall’s ‘Police and Thieves’ is a poignant memoir of policing in the late 1980s and 1990s. It reflects on race, community and culture, equating then with now, and includes musings on Irish travellers, black on black crime, police corruption, pedophilia and drug culture.

Duncan served for seven years at Kentish Town Police Station. Five years on the Metropolitan Police Drug Squad and just under 15 years of policing in total. He is a former professional footballer, an ex-pupil of Brondesbury and Kilburn High School, and a Queen’s Park native.
