Alex read English at Cambridge and then, after a brief flirtation with the Inns of Court, trained at as an actor LAMDA. His most recent stage credits include playing The Devil in Stravinsky’s L’Histoire Du Soldat directed by Alessandro Talevi for Opera di Firenze and Torvald in Ibsen’s A Doll’s House directed by Rachel O’Riordan for Sherman Cymru, as well as Dr Samuel Johnson in Playing to the Crowd directed by Patrick Sandford for Palimpsest. On stage he has worked with directors including Sir Peter Hall, Dame Janet Suzman, Daniel Evans and Tim Carroll. On screen he has appeared in a number of BAFTA winning television films including Longford (HBO) directed by Tom Hooper, Random (C4) directed by Debbie Tucker Green and The Government Inspector (C4) directed by Peter Kosminsky. His television credits also include: Chernobyl (HBO); Mrs Wilson (BBC); Harlots (ITV); X Company (CBC); The Crimson Field (BBC); New Tricks (BBC); Prime Suspect VII (ITV); Pinochet in Suburbia (BBC) and Bleak House (BBC). His most recent film credits include Finding Your Feet directed by Richard Loncraine and The Children Act directed by Sir Richard Eyre.
